The Final Event for the presentation of results of the REMOTE-IT programme, implemented under URBACT IV, took place on Friday, 12 December 2025, at the “Marina” café, located at the Venetian Harbour of Heraklion. The objective of the meeting was to present the Integrated Action Plan, as endorsed at the 9th Transnational Meeting in Dubrovnik (Croatia), to a broad audience.

In addition to the members of the Local Action Group, the event was attended by representatives of the Region of Crete, the Universities of Crete, public and private stakeholders and associations from various sectors active in the city of Heraklion (KTEL, Taxi associations, Special School, Association of Persons with Disabilities, Pensioners’ Association, Cycling Associations, Heraklion Port Authority – O.L.H.), digital nomads, as well as representatives of partners from other European programmes in which the Municipality participates.

The Municipality of Heraklion is the only municipality in Greece participating in the European programme entitled “Remote and Hybrid Work for Thriving Cities – REMOTE-IT” under URBACT IV.

The opening address of the Final Event was delivered on behalf of the Municipality of Heraklion by the Deputy Mayor for Development Planning and Digital Transformation, Mr Anastasios Tsatsakis.

The coordination and keynote presentation of the Local Action Group meeting were undertaken by the Director of Programming, Planning and ICT, Ms Zacharenia Drosou, together with the Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Business Administration and Tourism of the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU), Dr Markos Kourgiantakis. They publicly expressed their appreciation to all members of the Local Action Group for their contribution since the inception of the project, expressing the wish that cooperation will continue in the future towards a Heraklion that is inclusive and accessible for all. The organisation of the event was also supported by the Deputy Head of the European Programmes Department, Mr Panagiotis Tsakmopoulos, along with members of the project team.

The European Programme “Remote and Hybrid Work for Thriving Cities – REMOTE-IT” is implemented by the competent European Programmes Department of the Directorate of Planning, Organisation and ICT of the Municipality of Heraklion.

During the event, Ms Zacharenia Drosou and Ms Clémence Castell presented the new HERAKLION GO application, designed to facilitate mobility within the city for both visitors and residents. The application was developed within the framework of Action 3.2 of the Integrated Action Plan, entitled “Mobile Application for the Urban Mobility System of the City of Heraklion”, through the Municipality’s European programme SPINE – Horizon. The synergy between the two programmes constitutes a strategic and timely effort to leverage different European funding instruments in support of the Integrated Action Plan.
