Heraklion Art Cafe (Polikendro)
Polycentre comes to answer the need for expression, intervention and creation of the young people of our city by offering them the opportunity to join creative activities, taking initiatives and participating in the planning and implementation of proposals.
The Youth Polycentre was created out of the conviction of the Municipal Authority that our young people should emerge as an essential force in the general effort to improve their standard of living and has been operating since 1997, offering a space for creative expression to the young people of our city.
The activities of the centre include:
- Presentations of all artistic creations of young people (Theatre, Music, Dance, Visual Arts, Literature, Puppet Theatre, etc.)
- The operation of the Creative Activity Workshops (Theatre, Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Physics – Chemistry, Computer Science – Information Bank, Traditional Dances, Chess).
- Use of the Internet network
- Use of the library and board games
- Implementation of proposals from youth organisations or individuals on topics of interest to them (Debates, Events, Parties, Book presentations, Exhibitions, Tributes, Video screenings, Literary Analogues, Chess-Chess Games, etc.)
- Organization of the “Pancretan Cultural Games”
- Information and participation in the activities of the Centre for Youth Counselling and Education (K.S.A.N.)

The first soundproof office booth to serve the needs of digital nomads and remote workers in the Municipality of Heraklion, which has been installed at the Youth Centre with the cooperation of DEPANAL S.A., was presented at the 6th meeting of the Local Action Group of the Municipality of Heraklion for the Remote-It Act of the European Programme URBACT IV 2021-2027.
